Visiting the Bengaluru clinic

Dr Mekhala Divakar sees patients in person at Dr Badarayan’s Paediatric and Rheumatology Clinic, Bengaluru, every Thursday from 6 to 8 pm. In-person times are arranged with our team on WhatsApp rather than booked online. On other days, she consults online.

Psychologist or psychiatrist?

A clinical psychologist offers talking therapy, such as CBT, and psychological testing; in India they must be registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), and you can look up any registration number on the RCI’s official register. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who diagnoses and, where it helps, prescribes medication. In Bengaluru you can see our psychiatrist in person and our psychologists online, or do both together. Common questions

Can I see a psychologist in person in Bengaluru?

Our in-person clinician in Bengaluru is a psychiatrist, Dr Mekhala Divakar, who sees patients every Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at Dr Badarayan’s Paediatric and Rheumatology Clinic. Therapy with our clinical psychologists is online, by private video call, from anywhere in Bengaluru.

How much does online therapy cost for someone in Bengaluru?

A 50-minute session is ₹1,600 with one of our psychologists, ₹2,200 with a Senior Clinical Psychologist and ₹2,500₹3,500 with the Founder. An online psychiatric consultation is ₹1,000 with Dr Mekhala Divakar or ₹700 with Dr Varsha S, for 30 minutes.

Is there a Kannada-speaking therapist?

Yes. Benazier Noor Ahamed, a counselling psychologist, works in Kannada, and so do our psychiatrists Dr Mekhala Divakar and Dr Varsha S. Sessions are also available in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu (psychiatry), Hindi and English.

Should I see a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist?

A clinical psychologist offers talking therapy and psychological assessment. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can diagnose and, where needed, prescribe medication. Many people start with a psychologist, who will suggest a psychiatric consultation if it seems useful; you do not need a referral for either.

Can I get a prescription at the Bengaluru clinic?

If, after assessing you, Dr Mekhala Divakar thinks medication would help, she can prescribe it. Some medicines cannot legally be prescribed online in India and need an in-person appointment. Medication is always discussed with you first.

Can I mix online therapy with in-person psychiatry?

Yes. Many clients see a psychologist online every week or two and a psychiatrist in person or online for medication reviews.
