What is a psychological assessment?
A psychological assessment is a structured way of understanding how you think, feel and behave. Unlike an online quiz, it combines a clinical interview, your history, standardised psychological tests and a qualified psychologist’s interpretation.1 It ends in a written report you can take to a school, university, workplace or another clinician.
People usually come because something has never quite added up: a bright child who cannot finish written work, an adult who has struggled with focus all their life, or a memory change that needs to be measured, not guessed at. The aim is not just a label. It is a clear picture of your difficulties, your strengths and what will help.
Assessments we offer
ADHD assessment
Focus, impulsivity, organisation and executive function, in children and in adults never assessed as children.
Autism assessment
Developmental history, social communication and sensory experience, including for adults recognising traits later in life.
Learning disability (SLD)
Dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia: the route to school and board accommodations.
IQ & cognitive assessment
Reasoning, working memory and processing speed, with a profile of strengths and weaker areas.
Anxiety & depression
How severe the symptoms are, how they affect work, study and relationships, and what would help.
Personality & diagnostic clarity
When the picture is mixed and a clearer understanding would change the treatment plan.
Neuropsychological assessment with Ms Tanisha Shukla
Ms Tanisha Shukla, Neuropsychologist. MSc Neuropsychology, Christ University, Bangalore, with 750+ hours of supervised clinical practice at KGMU, RMLIMS and Balrampur Hospital, Lucknow.
A neuropsychological assessment, often searched for as a “neurological” or brain-function assessment, measures memory, attention, processing speed, language, visual-spatial skills and executive function (planning, organisation, problem-solving). It helps after a head injury or illness, when memory or thinking has changed, in older adults, and when attention and learning difficulties need to be mapped in detail.
How it works
- Tell us your concern on WhatsApp. You do not need to know the diagnosis.
- Clinical interview: your developmental, medical, academic and family history.
- Testing: standardised tests chosen for your question, over one or more appointments. Some tests are given in person in Lucknow for valid results.
- Feedback session: the findings explained in plain language, with time for questions.
- Written report within 10 to 14 working days, with clear recommendations: therapy, a psychiatric consultation, school support or further tests.
Who conducts assessments
Assessments are carried out by RCI-registered clinical psychologists and by our neuropsychologist, Ms Tanisha Shukla. Where a question has a medical side, our psychiatrist is involved. Meet the team.
Common questions
What does a psychological assessment cost in India at Rooh Mind Care?
₹5,000 with one of our psychologists and ₹7,000 with a Senior Clinical Psychologist. Neuropsychological assessments with Ms Tanisha Shukla are ₹5,000. These are the fees in India; for clients outside India, the fee is confirmed on WhatsApp. We confirm which assessment fits your question, and the fee, before you book.
Is a neuropsychological assessment the same as a neurological assessment?
No. A neurological assessment is a medical examination of the nervous system by a neurologist. A neuropsychological assessment measures thinking skills such as memory, attention, processing speed, language and planning. It does not replace a neurologist, a brain scan or other medical tests when those are needed, and it often sits alongside them.
Can an assessment be done online?
Partly. Interviews, history-taking, questionnaires and feedback work well online. Several standardised cognitive tests must be given in person for the results to be valid, so those appointments happen in Lucknow. We tell you which parts apply to you before you commit.
Can a psychological assessment diagnose ADHD?
A full assessment by a qualified professional can. It looks at your developmental history, symptoms across settings, how much they affect daily life and other possible explanations. A questionnaire or online screening score on its own cannot diagnose ADHD.
Will I get a formal diagnosis and a written report?
Assessments end in a written report. If the findings meet diagnostic criteria, the report says so; if they do not, it says that too and explains what does account for the difficulties. Tell us at intake if the report is for a school, university or employer, as requirements vary.
How long does the whole process take?
Typically two to four appointments for the assessment itself, then 10 to 14 working days for the written report.
Should I choose a psychologist or a Senior Clinical Psychologist?
Most assessments can be done by one of our psychologists. A Senior Clinical Psychologist is a good choice when the picture is complex or several questions overlap. If you are unsure, describe the difficulty on WhatsApp and we will suggest the right person.
Can children, teenagers and adults all be assessed?
Yes. Tests are chosen for the person's age and developmental stage. Many of our referrals are adults who were never assessed as children, especially women and people who did well at school.
